Chris Miller

Certified Home Inspector

I’ve built my reputation as a home inspector by actively demonstrating my commitment to honesty, integrity, and quality. I am certified by the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI®) and the American Home Inspectors Training Institute (AHIT), and have the knowledge and expertise you need to help make an informed decision about your future home.

My family has been in Minneapolis for generations, and as a result, I am uniquely familiar with the houses and neighborhoods of the Twin Cities. I have always been fascinated by the evolution of construction methods and details, and I am enthusiastic in my application of that background to my home inspections and in sharing this potentially helpful information with my clients.

Our Vision

“Miller Family Home Inspection strives to be the premier home inspection service in the Twin Cities Metro area by providing extraordinary customer service and high-quality inspections that exceed all competition.”

Our Mission

“Miller Family Home Inspection is committed to providing our customers with accurate and knowledgeable inspections to ensure a confident home purchase.”

Our Values

“Miller Family Home Inspection operates by the following guiding principles: Honesty, Integrity, Customer Service, Quality, Equity. Everybody deserves a safe and happy home.”

Pre-Purchase Inspections

Buying a new home can be both exciting and scary. While your dream home may look perfect on the surface, problems can require a trained eye to notice.

A home inspection by a certified and experienced inspector can help identify hidden pitfalls including structural problems, moisture, mold, rot, electrical and fire hazards, and many other problems that can turn your dream home into a nightmare of unexpected and costly repairs, or even put your family in danger.

Know what you are getting into with a quality home inspection.

The inspection consists of a thorough visual inspection of all visible components of the home, including the foundation, framing, windows, exterior, roof, interior, basement, electrical panel, branch wiring, and more. We look for items that need attention immediately and things that will need to be fixed or replaced in the future. You will receive a detailed inspection report containing photos and recommendations.

Once your inspection is complete, you will receive a detailed report. The report will be sent to you as a PDF document, and will include photos and descriptions of the condition of the following:

  • Visible Structure
  • Exterior
  • Roof – Physically walking the roof when it can be safely accomplished
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Heating / Air Conditioning System
  • Interior
  • Insulation and Ventilation
  • Fireplaces and Solid Fuel Burning Appliances
  • Decks, balconies, and porches
  • Kitchen appliances
  • Laundry appliances
  • Visual examination for mold

Once you receive your report, your inspector is available by phone or text to answer questions about your report as needed.

The inspection can take up to 3 hours (time may vary depending on the size of the home) and includes basement, roof, attic, exterior, and interior. We ask that the homeowner is absent, all rooms and spaces are accessible, all animals are secured, and that the buyer is present.

  • Condominiums

  • Single family

  • multi-family

Pre-Listing Inspections

Avoid being caught off-guard by your buyers’ inspections, so you can enter into the negotiation process with confidence.

While home inspections are usually used by home buyers to identify potential problems, pre-listing inspections are becoming more common. Why? As a seller, a pre-listing home inspection will help you avoid surprises as you negotiate the sale of your home. A pre-listing inspection can help you avoid being caught off-guard by your buyers’ inspections, and help you enter into the negotiation process with confidence.
